Health Sciences FEAs and Search Committee Trainings

​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​Faculty Excellence Advisors (FEAs) work collaboratively with Deans, Department Chairs, and search committees to ensure that all aspects are considered for recruitment, retention, and advancement. They provide training for search committees on best practices in faculty hiring, and other input as needed.

Health Sciences Faculty Search Committee Training

All Health Sciences faculty serving on faculty search committees for ladder rank positions are required to complete training every three years. 

Health Sciences faculty may register on UC Learning to attend one of the monthly Health Sciences faculty search committee trainings in 2026. Find more information and registration links below.

Health Sciences faculty may also attend search committee trainings hosted by the VC-Organizational Transformation (OT) Center for Faculty Success and Engagement. If you have questions regarding the upcoming campus trainings, please contact the Center for Faculty Success and Engagement at fse@ucsd.edu.

The search committee training is a synchronous session led by an FEA that focuses on best practices for faculty hiring via discussion-based scenarios. Participants will have an opportunity to think through how to apply practical strategies and best practices, and ways they might respond in certain situations during the search process.
