Conflict of Commitment | APM 025
The University of California policy on conflict of commitment and outside activities of faculty members and Designated Other Academic Appointees provides guidance for the identification and management of outside professional activities in order to avoid conflicts of commitment, while assuring that faculty and other academic appointees may engage in a wide array of outside activities without unnecessary limitations. This policy is specific to general campus faculty and other academic appointees. Faculty participating in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan are subject to APM - 671 , Conflict of Commitment and Outside Activities of Health Sciences Compensation Plan Participants and are not subject to APM - 025. Faculty members and other academic appointees in Health Sciences Schools who are not participants in the Health Sciences Compensation Plan are subject to APM - 025.
Faculty Code of Conduct | APM 015
The intent of the Faculty Code of Conduct is to protect academic freedom, to help preserve the highest standards of teaching and scholarship, and to advance the mission of the University as an institution of higher learning.
Part I of this Code sets forth the responsibility of the University to maintain conditions and rights supportive of the faculty’s pursuit of the University’s central functions.
Part II of this Code elaborates standards of professional conduct, derived from general professional consensus about the existence of certain precepts as basic to acceptable faculty behavior.
Part III of this Code deals with the enforcement process applicable to unacceptable faculty behavior.
University Policy on Faculty Conduct and the Administration of Discipline | APM 016
The University policy on faculty conduct and the administration of discipline is set forth in its entirety in this policy and in The Faculty Code of Conduct. This Policy describes types of disciplinary sanctions.
Sexual Harassment and Sexual Violence | UC-HR-15-0280
This policy addresses the University of California’s responsibilities and procedures related to Prohibited Conduct in order to ensure an equitable and inclusive environment free of sexual violence and sexual harassment. This policy applies to all University employees as well as undergraduate, graduate and professional students.
Reporting
Any person may make a report, including anonymously, of Prohibited Conduct to the Title IX Officer in the Office for the Prevention of Harassment and Discrimination (OPHD) , or to another appropriate office such as Academic Personnel Services (APS) , Student Affairs , Office of the Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences or Health Sciences Human Resources .
While there is no time limit for reporting, reports of Prohibited Conduct should be brought forward as soon as possible.
Protection of Whistleblowers from Retaliation | PPM 200-14
- Violates University policy
- Violates a State or Federal law or regulation, such as: corruption, malfeasance, bribery, the or misuse of government property, fraud, coercion, conversion, wastes money, or involves gross misconduct, gross incompetence, or gross inefficiency.

- Or to your Supervisor, Audit & Management Advisory Services (AMAS) , Health Human Resources
- With as much specific factual information as possible (report what you know, but don’t investigate—leave that to the experts!)
- Anonymously, if preferred
Confidentiality will be maintained, to the extent possible.

This policy describes the expected professional behavior and citizenship of Practitioners, defines types of disruptive behavior that may initiate corrective action, and describes the procedure to be followed when Practitioners display disruptive behavior within the Medical Center.

This Policy defines UC San Diego Health’s Workplace Violence Prevention Program and is designed to recognize and prevent workplace violence. This Program is a comprehensive attempt to prevent physical harm and, through education, emotional distress. This Policy describes the expected behavior and citizenship standards for all Staff and Physicians at UC San Diego Health and includes all physicians-in-training, nurses, pharmacists, therapists, technologists, and other licensed professionals. The Policy also defines types of disruptive behavior, intimidating or other inappropriate behavior.
