Each fall, the Office of Faculty Affairs celebrates Health Sciences faculty who have demonstrated significant commitment to effective mentorship of junior faculty, residents, fellows, postdoctoral scholars and/or students.
The Faculty Excellence in Mentoring Award is presented to three individual faculty members who have demonstrated significant commitment to effective mentorship of junior faculty, residents, fellows, postdoctoral scholars and/or students in academic medicine and health sciences. Awardees are recognized at our annual Health Sciences Mentoring Excellence Celebration and receive $1,000 each to support their mentorship activities.
The Department/Division Excellence in Mentoring Award is presented to a Health Sciences department or division for their mentoring excellence demonstrated by providing long-term support for the accomplishments and advancement of UC San Diego Health Sciences faculty. The awardee department or division is recognized at our annual Health Sciences Mentoring Excellence Celebration and receive $2,000 each to support their faculty development activities.
Nominations for 2025 Health Sciences Excellence in Mentoring Awards are now accepted at the link below. Please review the page for requirements and submit your nomination for a Health Sciences faculty or department/division by 11:59 PM on Sunday, August, 17, 2025.
The Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) recognizes faculty and a department/division for their outstanding contributions to effective mentoring of junior faculty and future leaders in academic medicine and for their long-term support for the accomplishments and advancement of UC San Diego Health Sciences faculty with the annual Excellence in Mentoring Awards.
Wednesday, November 5, 2025 from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Atkinson Pavilion, Ida and Cecil Green Faculty Club. RSVPs will open in September 2025.
