Health Sciences Funding for Leadership Skills Training Programs

Funding for Health Sciences Faculty Leadership Skills Training

Faculty leadership training promotes an engaged, diverse and inclusive faculty in academic medicine. UC San Diego Vice Chancellor for Health Sciences (VCHS) and the Office of Faculty Affairs (OFA) supports funding for faculty development programs at UC San Diego and high quality nationally recognized programs.

Eligibility and Funding Support for Leadership Training Opportunities

Health Sciences (HS) faculty at all ranks and series with at least a 50% salaried appointment are eligible to apply. Applications for HS funding support are accepted on a rolling basis and must include a description of the applicant's current and potential leadership roles in UC San Diego Health Sciences, CV, and a letter of endorsement from the sponsoring department.

Letter of endorsement should confirm support of the following:

  • All travel and travel-related expenses (including transportation, lodging and meals)
  • Registration fee not covered by this funding support

Application instructions specific to each opportunity are indicated below. A committee comprised of Health Sciences senior faculty leaders will review and select recipients for funding support. Please note:

  • Funding is available for one program per faculty in a given 12-month period.
  • Reimbursement is processed after the faculty has attended the leadership training program.
  • Reimbursement is contingent on availability of funds.
